Almost Everywhere

Kulturmöllan: Instrument LÖVESTAD, Sweden. 2013

Using the antiquated technology of ‘speaking tubes,’ this piece playfully collapses the mill’s interior and exterior soundscapes into a single, curious experience.

Almost Everywhere consists of an interconnected network of tubes threaded through existing interior and exterior gaps and holes left by earlier renovations to the mill. These tubes converge at one end in an outdoor listening station and fan out at the other to positions near various sound installations inside the building. Tin cans affixed to the tube ends invite you to press your ear to the work and listen, in real time, to a rotating selection of artworks carried through the tubes.
